100 Stories for Queensland: Long List

Submissions closed yesterday afternoon and we are proud to announce over 300 were submitted in 16 days. We were pleased to see almost everyone sticking to the guidelines, which made life so much easier for us. Very few stories were rejected straight up for being too long or of the wrong subject matter (ie. tales of death, destruction and yes, flooding!) and the wonderful submission platform at SubMishMash made it a breeze to collect documents without the worry of attracting spam or other internet nasties.

Thank you to our dedicated band of volunteer readers who assisted in reading and vetting the stories in such a speedy and professional manner: Tanya Bell, Jen Brubacher, Jason Coggins, Nick Daws, Rebecca Dobbie, Rebecca Emin, Annie Evett, Susan May James, PJ Kaiser, Marit Meredith, Dan Powel, Alan Vaarwerk, Jon Strother and Cameron Trost. Thanks also to the management team of Trevor Belshaw, David Robinson, Maureen Vincent-Northam and Jodi Cleghorn who not only read and vetted, but kept the entire system functioning with the minimum of hiccups and with the maximum efficiency.

We would like to remind all the writers at this time, that stories included in the anthology will be given a final line edit and proof read. Because of the sheer number of editors, writers and stories involved we are unable to directly contact writers during this process. Any authors who do not wish to have their work edited at this final stage are welcome to contact us at 100storiesforqld[at]emergent-publishing.com to withdraw their stories.
